Objective
The Cloud Practitioner Essentials course is AWS Training and Certification’s flagship learning product and serves as their most widely adopted foundational course for the program.
The objective was to refresh and elevate the course with compelling visuals and animations that not only educate but also strengthen AWS’s brand presence at scale, ensuring learners worldwide engage with a polished and professional experience.
What I've done
Storyboarded 200+ art boards that mapped the visual flow of the motion graphics and architecures across the course.
Directed and managed a team of 3 designers, ensuring consistency, clarity, and alignment with AWS brand standards.
Help animate 66 minutes of course content, delivering polished, high-quality motion graphics that translated technical concepts into engaging visuals.
Balanced creative vision with educational clarity, ensuring the visuals amplified comprehension rather than distracted from it.
Creative Process
The process began with aligning on tone: approachable, consistent, and visually engaging without overwhelming learners. I developed extensive storyboards to establish narrative flow, integrating metaphors, iconography, and visual frameworks that supported technical explanations.
In leading our small design team, I set clear visual guidelines, reviewed iterations, and ensured scalability across hundreds of assets.
For my own animation work, I applied principles of pacing, rhythm, and clarity to keep the learning experience dynamic while accessible. Regular collaboration with instructional designers and stakeholders ensured both pedagogical accuracy and brand cohesion.
Results
Help deliver 66 minutes of original animation that seamlessly integrated into AWS’s largest, most influential course.
Produced a cohesive visual system spanning 200+ storyboards, giving the course a professional polish and recognizable design identity.

Conclusion
The Cloud Practitioner Essentials project demonstrated my ability to lead large-scale educational design efforts while still contributing directly at the craft level. Balancing art direction, people management, and hands-on animation, I helped AWS deliver a course that not only supports millions of learners but also acts as a cornerstone of brand trust and revenue for Training and Certification. The project highlighted the impact of thoughtful design leadership in shaping high-value, global-scale educational products.
